Summer Pre-Trip Info

The Hike In: ~3 hours on average ~6km +650m elevation gain

How To Get Here

So yah need to get to Sandon…. Where the heck is Sandon!? It is located in Goat pass between Kaslo and New Denver on Hwy 31A. Turn off the Hwy by the big bend at “Three Forks”, don’t blink you’ll miss it! Once you turn off the highway carry on about 6km of well travelled dirt road to historic Sandon B.C

Drive Times to Sandon:

  • New Denver to Sandon 20mins
  • Kaslo to Sandon 45 mins
  • Nelson to Sandon 1.5 hours
  • Sandon to Trailhead 30-45mins depending on vehicle and driver

Car Suggestions: From Sandon to the trailhead the road gets a little rougher. 4WD is recommended but not as necessary as good clearance AWD is useful. This is a dirt road with numerous small water bars. You can leave vehicles parked in Sandon at your own risk. We recommend carpooling for environmental reasons and due the limited parking space at the trailhead.
